Nick Cannon is watching the years fly by, and now her twins with Mariah Carey have become little ladies asserting their own independence.

In an interview with E!, Nick Cannon said, "I'm loving their independence."

"We've been doing some shopping lately and picking out what kind of bed they wanted and their own drapes and they're like designing their own rooms," he added. "Up until this point, they've kind of shared rooms and now they're kind of individuals. It's watching that individuality come out. It's really cool."

About two months ago, Nick Cannon filed for divorce from Mariah Carey after six years of being together. Monroe and Morrocan were born on April 30, 2011.

Although his marriage to Mariah Carey did not work out, the "America's Got Talent" host said that they make sure to be there for the kids.

"Family is the number one priority. It's always making sure that you make that connection first," Nick Cannon said. "Just even where I move or the places where my days start has to be starting with the kids first."

Now, the twins have a lot more room to run around as "America's Got Talent" host rented a mansion in New Jersey, about an hour's drive away from New York, with the option to purchase it later on.

"Cannon is renting the two-acre Saddle River estate for a whopping $11,000 per month," said Hollywood Take. "And if he likes the property, he has the option to buy it for a cool $3 million. The six-bedroom, eight-bathroom home even includes a private lake."

"He specifically chose the location to help keep twins Moroccan and Monroe away from the spotlight of New York City. It's clear Nick Cannon remains a doting dad despite the drama of his divorce," the report added.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon figured in the news recently when their former nanny filed a lawsuit for back wages and overtime pay.
