Kendrick Lamar fans rejoice! The hip-hop artist revealed a specific date for his upcoming album.
Hip Hop recording artist, Kendrick Lamar's second album is arriving in stores earlier than expected. Lamar revealed the release date for the follow-up to his major debut album and his classic 2012 Grammy-nominated effort, "good kid, m.A.A.d city" on Friday, March 6.
According to Inquisitr, Lamar, one of the hottest rappers on the scene made the announcement On Twitter, however he did not reveal much as far as the details on his next album are concerned. The rapper linked his tweet to an iTunes Music Store page for the upcoming album. The page itself did not reveal any details either, leaving Lamar fans clueless of the album's title.
Currently listed as "Untitled," Inquisitr speculates that could well be the actual title of his next album. That said, it could also be a placeholder for still undisclosed title.
According to the iTune page, the [Untitled] album is slated to release on March 23, 2015. The only confirmed song on iTunes' tracklist is "The Blacker The Berry," that Dot dropped last month.
Inquisitr noted that the iTune page for the rapper's next album does not have cover art for [Untitled]. That said, fans of Kendrick did get a few very important details on his next album.
Lamar's next album will clock in at 78 minutes and 51 seconds, making it his longest widely released project until now. For comparison purpose, Kendrick's "Section 80" had a time of 59.24 while "good kid, m.A.A.d city" had a run-time of 68.16.
The track list further revealed that it will comprise of 16 tracks, with the last track being the longest. Track 16 on the list is a whopping 12-minute long and there is a possibility that it could well be the rumored "King Kunta" track that has received a lot of praise from those who have heard it.
Kendrick's single "i," that won his a Grammy this year will apparently be missing from his next album, according to Inquisitr. The track fueled speculations that Kendrick's next effort is going to be a bit more pop. The Compton rapper had promised the darker edge for his next album and subsequent songs from the [Untitled] album reportedly showcases the same.
Kendrick's next album was reportedly slated for release last year before the summer ended as the head of Lamar's label assured fans early last year that they could expect a new album from the hip-hop artist by Sept. However that failed to materialize.
