Good news Power Ranger fans! The much-awaited Lionsgate and Saban produced "Power Rangers Movie" reboot revealed its new ranger line up as well as the return of an original 'MMPR' cast member.
According to ET Online, the original "Red Ranger" Austin St. John will finally make a comeback in Hollywood after more than 20 years. St. John is known to portray Jason Lee Scott in the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" show in 1993. St. John opened up and shared his thoughts on being in the show.
“Thousands of people tried out for the show. It was an open cattle call and people just came in from everywhere and I was convinced there was not a chance in you-know-what I was ever going to get anywhere near this…and I was wrong,” St. John told ET. “It was campy. It was just infectiously fun, but to a 17-year-old boy, I was embarrassed sometimes at some of the things they wanted me to say!”
ET Online further reports that St. John has been in talks with both Lionsgate and Saban about joining the "Power Rangers Movie" reboot.
“We've had some talks with Saban Brands. There's been no agreements. Nothing in writing, so I wouldn't waste your time or anybody else's with propagating something I can't prove in writing,” St. John said to ET. “I don't know if they'll be calling me back, but we can see. I wouldn't mind coming back and doing a cameo. It would be a lot of fun for the fans.”
It is said that this news may thrill "Power Ranger" fans but St. John is not the only original cast member hinted to join the reboot.
ComicBook.com reported that "MMPR" veteran Jason David Frank is also interested to be part of the movie.
“I probably will be involved. They talked to me about it,” he said. “I don’t know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie,” JDF said to ComicBook.com.
Original "Pink Ranger" Amy Jo Johnson has also expressed her interest in making a cameo appearance in the "Power Rangers Movie" reboot, during an interview with The Verb.
