Good news Marvel fans as Marvel and Sony's new "Spider-Man" movie reboot will likely have new actors being targeted for the web-slinger role.

According to Screenrant, "Eastender" star Sam Strike is being targeted for the role of Spider-Man in the "Spectacular Spider-Man" movie for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The website adds that the 21-year-old British actor was the subject of headlines and social media buzz when he landed a major role in an unspecified film that is required to have a rigorous workout.

To further support the claim that Strike could be the next web-slinger, Cinemablend reported that Strike posted a selfie on his Instagram account wearing a Spider-Man mask, which dated four months ago.

Cinemablend further adds that Strike commented on whether the Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales should be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Certainly Strike has been vocal about being Spider-Man in future projects and judging by the amount of attention he has been receiving he could likely be Peter Parker in the movie.

But Strike is not the only actor vying for the role as International Business Times reported that "Bates Motel" actor Freddie Highmore is also interested to play Mr. Spidey.

IGN conducted an interview with Highmore as he expressed his interest in playing Peter Parker in the new Spider-Man film.

"Obviously I would love to be considered," Highmore told IGN. "That would be fantastic. I guess we'll just see how things go.

Highmore further adds, “You always feel like you can identify with him. He's that kind of guy at school who wasn't perhaps in the really cool group, but who was extremely intelligent and managed to find confidence in being Spider-Man -- in this other side to his life.”

Several actors have also been rumored to play the role of Spider-Man - Zac Efron, Logan Lerman, Dylan O'Brien, and Jay Baruchel.

USA Today previously reported that Donald Glover has continued to voice out his interest for the role of Spidey while Tyler James Williams and Alfred Enoch are also rumored for the part.

It is not yet confirmed if Marvel and Sony are planning to have Peter Parker or Miles Morales on the new "Spider-Man" film though it is said that having both characters can make a very interesting angle for MCU's new "Spider-Man Reboot."
