The Xiaomi Redmi 2 will be available in Singapore starting on March 17, in which, will have a retail price of S$169 (US$122), as reported by GSM Arena.
As for the specs of the device, GSM Arena reported that the handset will boast an IPS LCD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 with a resolution of 720 x 1280 at 312 ppi. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 has a dimension of 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 mm that weighs 133 grams.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 will run on Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 and an Adreno 306 GPU. The device, which is equipped with 2GB of RAM, will run on Android KitKat operating system that is available in 8GB and 16GB variants.
In terms of camera, the smartphone will have an 8MP rear-facing snapper that is equipped with features such LED flash, auto focus, Geo tagging, touch focus, high dynamic range mode plus face and smile detection, while its front-facing camera is at 2 megapixel.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2, which will have 2,200 mAh battery, also features different sensors such as accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass. It comes with Cat.4 LTE connectivity that can speed up the download to 150Mbps plus two SIM card slots for dual standby capability.
Meanwhile, according to Christian Today, the Chinese manufacturer is all set to bring out its newest device - the Redmi 2 - in India; however, Gadgets NDTV wrote that the device is expected to launch this week considering that the company's exclusive online partner in India, the Flipkart, is no longer selling the Xiaomi Redmi 1S.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 white variant will be available for pre-order from noon on March 17.
