Good news gaming fans and gadget enthusiast as Microsoft has some new details on its VR headgear - the HoloLens - regarding its release date and games.

Microsoft HoloLens is one of the few VR gaming headgears that are being developed this year, along with other devices such as Sony's Project Morpheus, Samsung's Gear VR and the Oculus Rift. PC Pro has manage to report the specs and features of the Microsoft HoloLens.

According to Alex Kipman, project leader of HoloLens, the visor is comprised of "see-through" holographic HD lenses that can reach full HD quality at 1080p or at 720p resolution. The website implies that the HoloLens will have 4K display that could put it ahead on its other competitors.

PC World (via PC Pro) reports that HoloLens' processor is the Cherry Trail chipset, which is said to be smaller, faster and will have more features than its Bay Trail predecessor. As an added bonus, the chipset could have wireless charging to the HoloLens.

The HoloLens will also have the RealSense gesture control, which allows expansive range of hands free control mechanics for interacting with tablets and has Intel's WiDi technology that lets users stream movies, games, and apps.

Its co-processor is the Holographic Processing Unit that can integrate and interact with real environments and virtual objects that allows the HoloLens to interpret its surroundings.

As for its sensors, PC Pro reports that it will have the Kinect 2.0 as the Xbox accessory will have both depth and 1080p colour cameras, as well as an infrared sensor.

The HoloLens will features a 3D MineCraft-like game called "HoloStudio" that lets players knock on holes through real-world objects to reveal digital environments. The game also allows users to create, manipulate and alter 3D models that can be exported to 3D printers.

Speaking of games, Microsoft is planning on having Xbox One games to the HoloLens.

According to the Fuse Joplin, Xbox executive Phil Spencer said during the GDC 2015 event last week that they are planning on creating games for its VR head gear.

“Gaming and entertainment is going to be critical,” Spencer during the event.

However, CrossMaps reports that Microsoft is also planning to share its API to other developers to enable them to create contents for HoloLens.

"While there are going to be many uses and industries that take advantage of Microsoft HoloLens and everything that holographic computing has to offer, gaming is a huge opportunity," Microsoft said. "For all the game developers out there, we encourage you to join the Windows Insider Program to get the holographic APIs when available, and stay tuned for Build 2015, where we will share more details."

As for its release date, Microsoft is planning to launch the HoloLens "in the same time-frame as Windows 10," and more details will be revealed at Microsoft's Build developer conference in April 2015.
