The South Korean giant company Samsung has officially revealed the Samsung Galaxy Tab A series on March 17, Tuesday in Russia, cite GSM Arena.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A has two model display sizes - the 8-inch and 9.7-inch. Both models have the same resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels which translates to 160ppi and 132ppi for the 8-inch and 9.7-inch models.
The site wrote that Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets are the first devices to show a 4:3 screen ratio, which is speculated to be featured in the upcoming generation of the Galaxy Tab S models.
According to Android Central, the tablets are equipped with a metallic design that supports wireless charging and LTE. It is reported to launch gold and blue color variants sometime later this year.
As for the hardware, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A series are powered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 CPU and expected to run on Snapdragon 410 chipset with 4G connectivity.
Other specifications include 5MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera and a 16GB built-in storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via SDcard.
In terms of battery, the 8-inch variant is reported to have 4,200 mAh that can last for up to 10 hours. The larger model of the device is said to have a dual speaker while both of them will run on the latest version of TouchWiz based on Android Lollipop.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-inch and 9.7-inch models will be available in Russia starting next month. The Wi-Fi only version will be priced between RUB 16,990 and RUB 18,990. The LTE version will be priced from RUB 20,990 to RUB 22, 990.
As of this writing, the company has not yet released information about its availability and price details of the device in other countries.
