TV Guide reporter Michael Logan took to Twitter to reveal the exciting news. He confirmed that Alsison Sweeney will be returning to "Days of Our Lives" this year. Logan reportedly spoke to the show's executive producer who teased that Sami Brady will be returning to Salem.

"Days of Our Lives" spoilers from Celeb Dirty Laundry also revealed that Stephen Nichols and Peter Reckell will be reprising their role as Patch and Bo. The website teased that the return of the characters will bring exciting storylines in the coming episodes. Logan also promised that fans can expect "big drama" to celebrate the series' 50th anniversary.

The return of Alison Sweeney, Stephen Nichols and Peter Reckell is a welcome surprise, not only for the viewers but for the head writers, as well. It was previously reported that "Days of Our Lives" had been struggling with ratings as of late. With the return of fan favorite characters to the NBC soap, it's expected that the "DOOL" will get back on track.

Celeb Dirty Laundry claimed that head writers Dena Higley and Josh Griffith were thinking of ways on how to attract new audience to sustain the show's popularity. Rumor has it, the least popular characters will be axed out.

It was said that Melissa Archer might be fired from "Days of Our Lives" after her character failed to connect with the viewers. Source close to the actress said that the showrunners did not give Archer the opportunity to succeed with her giver role. Spoilers revealed that fans could expect a "major reset" with the following episodes on the NBC soap.
