Looks like good news for the followers of Mojang and "Minecraft" as Microsoft has green lighted the upcoming Minecon 2015.

The tech giant that acquired Mojang last year for a mind boggling $2.5 billion, Microsoft will not interfere with it plans for "Minecraft" convention dubbed as Minecon 2015.

According to Venture Beat, Microsoft noted that Minecon will in fact serve as a great opportunity to learn more about the "Minecraft" community.

Following Microsoft's acquisition of Mojang, fans were fearful that the parent company might make some major changes to the firm's operations. Further citing the fact that Microsoft stages its own conventions for its properties and games, followers of the studio and its games feared that the annual Minecon events might no longer happen. The company, on the contrary has no plans of restricting Mojang activities particularly when it comes to connecting with its supporters.

In a statement provided to VentureBeat, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed, "Mojang is running Minecon 2015 in the same manner as their past events."

According to PCGamer, the spokesperson further added that the tech giant is simply playing a supporting role and wants to listen, learn and be inspired by the community that has made Minecraft great. Microsoft's spokesperson thanked the passionate community of players, builders as well as content creators who have made Minecraft the global phenomenon it is today.

Although it was important for Microsoft to help where needed, the spokesperson said the tech giant let Mojang carry on the tradition of Minecon as a relevant celebration of the Minecraft community. Microsoft knew that Minecon was part of what it was buying and it never hesitated to permit a new Minecon.

It's extremely important for Microsoft to keep Minecraft fans happy even if they are on PlayStation. The game is extremely popular amount young people and is one of the most played games in the world. In fact, it won't be wrong to consider it Super Mario Bros. for the generation that is growing up now.

That said, the franchise could serve as Microsoft's backbone for its gaming strategy for the next decade beyond.
