Fans of Marvel's "Agent Carter" might be in for a pleasant surprise, or a jarring disappointment. Although it has yet to be confirmed if the series will be renewed or cancelled, recent rumors claim that ABC will be releasing an official statement next week.
According to Venture Capital Post, there's a big possibility that "Agent Carter" would be renewed for season 2. Although the series had failed to live up to the network's expectations, in terms of ratings, it was said that the executive producers were willing to give it another shot.
As Kdramastars previously reported, it was rumored that "Agent Carter" season 2 will be cancelled because of its depressing ratings. From a planned 13-episode series, the show had been cut down to eight. Though both the show's premiere and finale episode garnered over a skyrocketing 4 million views, the show is still below approval compared to the other programs.
ABC president Paul Lee however, remained optimistic about the show's future. It's also interesting to note that that Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) would make an appearance in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." This news just might encourage the ABC producers to renew the series for a second season.
"Agent Carter" executive producer Tara Butters have yet to release a statement on the possible renewal or cancellation of the show. Butters, however, revealed that the show runners already had plots in mind should the series get renewed.
Speaking to Cinemablend, Butters revealed that she's looking forward to extending the current 8-episode format to 13 episodes. She also said that although fans have seen an aged version of Peggy Carter in "Captain America: The Winter Solider," the series will not be heading into different decades anytime soon. She said that part of "Agent Carter's" charm was that it was set in the post-war era.
It was rumored that the network would announce if "Agent Carter" season 2 will be cancelled or renewed before spring break.
