Paula Patton confessed that divorcing Robin Thicke has forced her to grow up as a woman and mother.
"I live in a place of gratitude and growing up in many ways I think, I moved from my parents' house to moving in with Robin and now I'm like becoming an adult at this old age," the 39-year-old actress told host Meredith Viera. "I'm really like a real woman now."
Paula Patton said the divorce process from Robin Thicke has posed a lot of challenges, but she is getting used to the changes even if the whole journey has been very emotional, particularly for their son who is starting to question why they are not together.
"I took a lot of time off to be with him and then I had to pack for a trip because I had to go to work and he said, "Mommy I don't want you to go to work," she recounted. "It's the challenge of being a working mother and it's the first time he ever said that to me because I did work when he was a baby but now he is more aware of everything, so what are you going to do? It's sort of the trials and tribulations of being a woman. Right?"
Paula Patton called her mother who reassured her that everything will be okay in the long run. "I called my mom and I cried and she said, "Darling, I had to work. We all hear that,'" she added.
The divorce between Paula Patton and Robin Thicke was finalized earlier this month after the "2 Guns" actress and the "Blurred Lines" hitmaker submitted documents that they agreed on division of property and custody of Julian, 4.
"The terms of the settlement are private. There's an indication from the legal docs Paula is getting primary custody, but it's not spelled out specifically. They've also agreed on the terms of spousal and child support," the TMZ report said.
