Good news TMNT fans as new updates for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" have been revealed regarding new plot details, and a new cast member.

Variety has reported that "Arrow" star Stephen Amell has cast to play Casey Jones, a vigilante and close friend/ally to the ninja turtles. The website further adds that Amell has been "tested" with a half-dozen actors over the weekend, but it was his chemistry with Megan Fox that led the studio eventually giving the role to him.

The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that supermodel Allesandra Ambrosio has been cast in the "TMNT" sequel, and has not yet revealed what roled she would play in movie.

In the TMNT universe, Casey Jones is a vigilante who fights off criminals and gang members in the streets of New York. Tired and fed up with what is happening to his neighborhood, he decides to wear a hockey mask and fight crime using weapons such as baseball bats, and hockey sticks.

He eventually met the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at some point and became friends with them. He is close to Raphael, and he is the love interest of Fox's character April O'Neil.

ComicBookResources reports that Amell has confirmed his status as Casey Jones in the movie by posting a photo of the character in his Twitter page.

Meanwhile, the plot details for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" have been revealed.

According to Screenrant, former "TMNT" director Jonathan Liebesman talked about the possible inclusion of Krang and Dimension X in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" during an interview with the website.

"I was going to save this next question for later, but it seems like we’re building off of it anyway," Screenrant asked Liebesman. "I mean I’m familiar with the old comics. I wanted to ask you guys, going forward, we saw a lot of Easter eggs from the comics – particularly like TCRI and things like that. I know where the TCRI story leads in the comics. Would you guys ever go so big and so sci-fi?"

"Dimension X?" Liebesman answered. "F*ck yes."

Producer Andrew Form commented on the topic by saying, "There are scripts that have been written for this movie that integrated those worlds into it already…"

Screenrant reportedly claimed that the sequel will likely explore the origins of the mutagen TCRI, and the aliens responsible for its development, are the Kraang/Ultroms, and hinted a possible setting in their home world, Dimension X.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" is directed by Dave Green and it will be shown on June 3, 2016.
