The finale episode of "Castle" season 7 is said to end in a cliffhanger, according to Seamus Dever (Detective Kevin Ryan). Unfortunately, the thrilling finale should not be taken as an indicator if the series will get cancelled or renewed.
In his interview with TVGuide, Dever said while talking about the "Castle" season 7 finale episode, "I think we are headed toward to some sort of cliff-hanger. We go back into the Beckett mythology and that might play strongly in the end." he said.
The storyline of the final episode makes him hopeful about the final episode of season 8. The actor, however, has said that no one has talked to him about the new season.
Seamus Dever's contract, as with most of the actors including Nathan Fillion (Rick Castle) and Stana Katic (Kate Beckett), is up for renewal.
"Castle" showrunner David Amann, as reported previously, revealed to TV Line that the season 7's finale focus on a risky storyline linked to Beckett and "Castle's" mythology.
Beckett's mythology is not, in anyway, related to her mother's murder. After wrapping up 3XK mythology, he said that they still have to explore the Castle and Beckett mythology, which have caused rumors that William Bracken (Jack Coleman) will return.
Amann, in an interview with Give Me My Remote, ends speculations as he said that the murder of Beckett's mother has been settled. Interestingly, the storyline of Beckett may "open up a little more, " adds Amann; and that Castle's mythology "may touch on things adjacent to that."
The only question now in everyone's mind is if "Castle" is going to be renewed or cancelle. Will there be a season 8? Show producers and the series' network has yet to release an official statement but president Paul Lee said that he loves the show and would love to see "Castle" air "for many more years to come."
