The March Madness 2015 seems like an afterthought to the Kentucky Wildcats' quest to make history as the unbeaten team to win the championship this year. But fan reaction, at least base on ticket prices, has been quite laggard.
According to The Street, ticket prices for March Madness 2015 have dropped 23.8% for the Final Four.
"Fans looking to just get past the turnstile on Saturday will also see a declining get-in price. The cheapest available Final Four ticket is $275, down 30.5% from Monday's $396 low price," it said. "Tickets honor attendance at both Saturday games, with Duke and Michigan State playing in the earlier bout, followed by Kentucky and Wisconsin."
"Alongside the Final Four, Monday's championship game is also seeing ticket prices fall on the secondary market. NCAA Tournament championship game tickets currently own a secondary average of $617.60, which marks an 18.1% slide from Monday's average of $754.95. The low price for the title game is currently $130," the report added.
While ticket prices are down for the Final Four of March Madness 2015, licensing revenues have found a new cash cow in women's apparel.
Based on data from Collegiate Licensing Company, women's apparel has increased 69% over the past five years, and 18% since 2012. In the past year alone, the retail sales of women's apparel hit over $350 million.
Cory Moss, managing director of CLC, told Forbes that, "Women's growth is attributed to getting better companies producing women's apparel specific to the needs, interests and wants of women."
"Ten years ago, women's product was maybe a men's small t-shirt. Now companies that produce women's product are much more sophisticated in style and shape of product and catering to what the woman really wants to wear," he added.
In the Final Four of March Madness 2015, the Kentucky Wildcats will meet the Wisconsin Badgers at 8:49 p.m. ET on TBS Saturday, while the Duke Blue Devils will meet the Michigan State Spartans at 6:09 p.m.
