"Iron Man" actor Robert Downey Jr. proved that he could be as flashy as his on-screen persona, Tony Stark, as he stepped out to celebrate his 50th birthday at Santa Monica's Barker Hangar in a pair of loud Givenchy high-top sneakers.
According to Barney's, the Givenchy Tyson wedged high-top sneakers retails for $1,945.
The description reads, "Designed with a classic high-top's round toe, thick outsole and Velcro® ankle strap, Givenchy's Tyson sneakers are styled in black and white checkerboard woven leather."
"For his big night, the man of the hour wore a black and white printed T-shirt under a color coordinated blazer and matching trousers," Daily Mail reported. "The Oscar nominee - who is the two-time reigning Forbes' highest paid actor - accessorized his monochrome outfit with a pair of white rimmed glasses to continue the black and white theme."
Among the celebrities who attended Robert Downey Jr.'s 50th birthday bash were Reese Witherspoon and husband Tim Toth, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Bateman, Edward Norton, Katie Holmes, Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, Gwyneth Paltrow, Orlando Bloom, and power couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.
"It was the best party. Star-studded, of course, but at the same time, it felt very intimate. Everyone seemed friendly and hugged each other left and right," a source told People.
Robert Downey Jr.'s troubles with the law are pretty well documented. He spent time in prison before getting himself cleaned in rehab. He successfully reinvented himself after being freed from jail in a string of hit movies, most notably "Sherlock Holmes" and "Iron Man."
Talking about his "Iron Man" role, Robert Downy Jr. told Vanity Fair, "I've gone from being convinced that I am the sole integer in the approbation of a phenomenon to realizing that I was the lead in the first of a series of movies that created a chain reaction that, if everything didn't fire the way it was supposed to, there's no operator, no anything. And you go, O.K., life is doing something here that included me but did not require me. But, yes, that role means a lot. Marvel is kind of like this sacred brotherhood."
For his 50th birthday, Robert Downey Jr. posted a photo of himself on Twitter along with the caption, "Dear Mother Nature, Thank you for 50 years of loving tolerance... #bloodmoon."
