Days after “Furious 7” hit the theaters, rumors have reportedly begun swirling about “Fast & Furious 8."
Christian Today reported that Eva Mendez, who played the role of U.S. Customs Agent Monica Fuentes, might return to "Fast & Furious 8" and added that Cody Walker might be included, as well.
A report stated that the studio is planning to introduce Walker's younger brother Cody as a new character to "Fast & Furious 8" in his honor. The publication added that "Furious 7" lead star Vin Diesel earlier mentioned that the story might be the character of Kurt Russel.
However, while there are rumors about "Fast & Furious 8" online, there really remains no update yet about a sequel, cited News Everyday.
The site wrote that Vin Diesel said that the journey of the movie is not over yet in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
"You know I always think of these films multiple pictures in advance. I think of them as trilogies. Kurt Russell came in for this movie, but he was really, we really hired him because of a story that follows this," he said.
Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, "Furious 7" on Wednesday saw its income grow to $183.7 million domestically and $343.1 million internationally, with a total of $526.8 million. The said record is nearer to the box-office hit "Fifty Shades of Grey," which has a current global total of $566.1 million
BoxOffice.com Vice President and Chief Analyst Phil Contrino said that the success of the film is a tribute to Paul Walker.
"Walker's passing made this movie more intriguing for people who hadn't seen some of the installments. It raised awareness and its success is a tribute to him," said Contrino.
