Micromax, the tenth largest Smartphone vendor in the world, has named its forthcoming smartphone Yuphoria after a crowd-sourced naming contest.
As a part of yet another flash sale, Micromax's Yu Yureka managed to sell off 25,000 units in just 7 seconds through e-commerce website Amazon on Thursday, April 9.
Given the huge demand it has from the Indian market right now, it's no surprise that its makers are all set to launch a successor.
Fans were given several names, like Youth, Yunity, Yunicorn and Yuknight, to decide which one they want. Based on the numerous votes it received, Yuphoria was chosen to be the final tag of the Yu smartphone.
Will it outshine its predecessor?
Although details of this new smartphone have yet to be revealed, Mobiletor shed light on some of its specs.
Priced at Rs8,999, Yuphoria will run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Cyanogen 12 OS. In addition, it will be powered by a 64-bit processor (Snapdragon 410 likely), along with a 2GB RAM.
Yuphoria will likely sport a 5-inch 720p HD display, a 13MP read camera, a 5MP front snapper, a 2500mAh battery among other advanced offerings. It is expected to compete with the likes of the Moto E 2nd Gen, Asus Zenfone, Huawei Honor 4X and Xiaomi Redmi 2 in the Indian market.
The new Yuphoria is expected to be riding high on the huge success of its predecessor, the Yu Yureka, which ended its thirteenth Amazon flash sale on April 9.
Although there is no official release date attached to the phone yet, various reports confirm that it is definitely inching closer.
