Andy Murray proved that he hasn't forgotten his roots as he wore a traditional Scottish men's taltan costume for his wedding to Kim Sears, who looked very much like a princess in her white wedding gown as they exchanged vows in Dunblane Cathedral.
"He sported a blue and green kilt while Sussex-born Ms Sears wore an embroidered white gown with three-quarter-length sleeves and a long veil," BBC noted on Sunday.
After the formal wedding ceremony, Andy Murry and wife Kim Sears-along with family and close friends-made their way to the Cromlix hotel, which the world's no. 3 bought and refurbished in 2013 to become a luxury hotel.
"Scotland's wedding of the year enjoyed typically Scottish weather. But the hail and rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of the thousands who'd gathered outside Dunblane cathedral to wish the couple well," the report added.
Andy Murray and Kim Sears got engaged last year after dating for about eight years.
"Andy spent ages thinking about the ring, he chose the design himself and picked it up last week. He then proposed on Wednesday," a source told Mirror. "Kim said 'yes' immediately. They are completely besotted with each other and have been there for each other through thick and thin."
"They are just going to enjoy themselves before they start planning their big day," the source added.
Andy Murray and Kim Sears' wedding was dampened by a tragedy, however, when one of the photographers died while covering the ceremony, the Metro report said.
"Gordon Jack, 47, fell onto a stone in a graveyard at Dunblane Cathedral as the tennis star and his wife Kim were greeted by a media scrum," it said. "He was taken to Forth Valley Hospital, in Larbert, near Falkirk, at around 5pm yesterday but died this afternoon."
The report said that Andy Murray was looking at the incident "with concern" although he was quickly ushered away by security.
