The Man of Steel has nothing on the Dark Knight in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" film; at least where top billing is concerned.
According to What Culture, the website of DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. makes it clear that Ben Affleck has top billing over Henry Cavill.
"Of course, Affleck's star status might have afforded his agent all kinds of leverage in negotiation, and so Batman may indeed be second fiddle to Superman in this story," it said. "The credit block doesn't have to reflect narrative as much as it does bargain power and Hollywood rank".
That's contrary to the earlier reports that "Batman V Superman" is a sequel to the 2013 film "Man of Steel," which should have given Henry Cavill top billing.
Meanwhile, the trailer for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is expected to be released on April 20. Director Zack Snyder will tweet a five-second teaser video reportedly at 9 a.m. on April 16.
Screen Rant said "the plan isn't entirely groundbreaking, although the fact that Warner Bros. has managed to keep the plan quiet to this point is impressive."
"While it's hard to know how much footage (or voice over) can be teased in just five seconds, it's expected that the theater release will be followed soon after by an online version (whether studio-approved, or not). But its second appearance in theaters will be targeted squarely at the comic book crowd," it added.
There's no released synopsis yet for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" although BadAss Digest suggested some spoilers.
"In Batman v Superman Superman is no lackey of the government; if anything many of the world's governments distrust the guy. But it is Superman who goes to Gotham and starts the confrontation... at the behest of Lex Luthor," the article claimed.
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, will be released in theaters on March 24, 2016.
