Looks like The Viper Randy Orton just raised the stakes of his Extreme Rules championship match with Seth Rollins by choosing one stipulation that would make the match even more brutal.
As part of WWE's overseas tour, the latest match of Monday Night Raw was held in Bournemouth, England during which the WWE World Heavyweight championship rivals Seth Rollins and Randy Orton stole the show by each winning a match.
However, the win was not the only reason to celebrate. Through their respective victories, the star fighters have reportedly earned the right to add one stipulation to their title brawl. Seth Rollins is the current WWE champion and he chose to ban RKO, Randy Orton's signature move, for the big bout on April 26. On the other hand, Orton, AKA the Viper, chose to place his big match against Rollins in the barbarous steel cage.
According to reports on WWE.com, this new twist will lead to a change in the game plans of the fighters who are scheduled to face each other in the forthcoming Extreme Rules. These reports also indicate that because the feud between the two fighters dates back to November, the mutual hatred was expected.
SkySports also said that Randy's reason for picking the steel cage is quite valid as the ace fighter wants to keep the other member of J & J security away from his match against Rollins. The limitations of the steel cage are expected to stop other members of J&J security, like Kane and Big Show, from supporting Rollins like they have in a lot of previous matches.
By banning the RKO, Rollins has increased the threat against Randy Orton as the fighter will now be forbidden to use his signature move that has helped him defeat several big fighters in previous events.
In fact, WrestleMania records also reportedly indicate that Orton has used a high elevated version of the RKO to pin Rollins just hours before Rollins' cash-in heard round the world. With his signature move banned, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to win the match.
The big question is without that arrow in his quiver, will Randy be able to achieve the same results? Plus, exactly how effective will the cage be in preventing The Authority's henchmen from helping their golden boy, Rollins is yet to be seen.
The much awaited Extreme Rules match featuring the two fighters is slated to air on the WWE Network Sunday, April 26, starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
