Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy Alpha and LG G2 Of AT&T Get a Lollipop Update, Firmware Features New Material Design, Lock Screen Notifications, 64-bit ART Compiler and More

AT&T has released the Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy Alpha and LG G2, according to GSM Arena.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active comes in at 1.4 GB and runs on Android 5.0 with build number LRX21T. G870AUCU1BOC5. For Samsung Galaxy Alpha, the update comes with a download size of 1 GB and makes it run on Android 5.0.2, build LRX22G G850AUCU1BOC6. The LG G2 update comes in at 725MB in size and, after performing the procedure to download the update, the user can start using the Android 5.0.2 and software version of D80030F.

Furthermore, the LG G2 update removes the Famigo, AT&T Code Scanner, Browser Bar and Beats Music features, according to AT&T.

The carrier added that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active new update includes a new user interface, battery saving features, smart lock that secures the phone by pairing it with "trusted device", a "most frequently used" setting available with just two swipes down from the top screen and a "priority mode" to allow certain notifications to get through.

According to AT&T, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha software update includes an improved OS software design, with bold colors, bright contrast, fluid animations and new complex views. It has also a new schedule view while the calendar view has a new dropdown capability. The notifications are also more accessible and visible and now users are allowed to set notification priority and privacy for each application.

On Samsung Galaxy Alpha, the update has an improved setting, where the user can use a finger to swipe and access notifications and quick settings. The update also brings multiple user accounts to the device.

In a report by Phone Arena, the update brings new material design, 65-bit ART compiler, Project Volta for enhancing battery life and more.

Meanwhile, South Korean tech giant Samsung has also released the Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Duos.
