According to an official press release from ABC, "Mellie's political career could be over" in next week's all-new episode.

But what could have lead to this sudden and devastating development? More spoilers ahead!

ABC has released a full synopsis for "First Lady Sings The Blues" (S04E20), explaining that in Episode 20, "The team taking down B613 is in serious danger and forced to take drastic measures to ensure their safety."

Furthermore, "In the White House, Mellie is mortified when the nation turns against her and Cyrus is forced to come to her defense, on "Scandal," THURSDAY, APRIL 23 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network," concludes the official ABC synopsis.

Will Cyrus be able to convince the American people to change their minds? You'll have to wait and see.

The press release also revealed that Emmy Award winning actor Joe Morton and Emmy nominated actress Kate Burton will guest star on the show. In addition, we learn that Episode 20 of Season 4 is written by Paul William Davies and directed by David Rodriguez.
