Microsoft has unveiled its latest smartphone -- the Lumia 540 Dual SIM, according to GSM Arena.

Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM will be available in glossy cyan, white, orange and matte black color options.

"The Lumia team is passionate about product-making, creating every smartphone with a distinct design personality within a coherent design approach," said Iain Pottie, the senior design manager of industrial design and mechanics at Microsoft, according to Lumia Conversations.

"Our customers are the source of so much inspiration, but we know they have different needs and budgets, so we always want to provide choice. That's why today we're introducing the new Lumia 540 Dual SIM," Pottie added

The Lumia 540 will start rolling out early May to the IMEA, Italy and APAC regions at an RRP of $150.

The Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM has a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 that translates into 294 ppi. The display features cover tactile feedback, brightness control, orientation sensor and Lumia color profile.

The smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, which is clocked at 1.2 GHz. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via memory card. Also, the handset has an additional 15GB of free OneDrive storage and a further 15GB when the user activates the "auto-upload" photo feature in the camera setting.

Furthermore, the Lumia 540 Dual SIM has a 5MP front-facing camera with features such as a focal length of 24mm, video call, video recording and still image capture. The rear camera, meanwhile, has an 8MP with features such as backside-illuminated image sensor, automatic photo upload to OneDrive and auto and manual white balance.

The smartphone has 2200 mAh with a maximum talk time of 14.8 hours on 3G and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 OS, which will reportedly be upgraded to Windows 10 later in the year.
