Microsoft has rolled out a new service called Office 365 Video for desktop and iPhone.

Microsoft joined the long list of companies that leverage video by launching the Microsoft Office 365 Video app for iPhones on April 16.

The new service allows companies to upload and share video content on the desktop, as well as mobile devices. With the Office 365 Video, companies can now easily share orientation videos, training program videos and marketing tutorials internally. Moreover, the service allows companies to upload large files over the Internet like a breeze.

According to BidnessEtc, Office 365 Video can be compared to Google-acquired video streaming service, YouTube, but only for corporate matters. Office 365 Video lets users create channels for several types of videos. Furthermore, companies can upload content with metadata with Office 365 Video, making it easier for their employees to navigate through the video portal.

In addition, Microsoft released a new Office 365 Video app for the iPhone, PCMag noted.

Mark Kashman, senior product manager on the Office 365 team, wrote in a blog post that the new iPhone app offers similar capabilities that users will find on the Web. Employees can search for and play company videos, navigate channels, and even upload their own videos directly into the Office 365 Video channel of their choice.

As a result of constant improvement to Office 365 Video portal pages, including Home, Channels, playback, and search, they not only look good across devices but will also work on all Web browsers. In addition, pages will now dynamically adjust to optimize player size, menu, column width and more.

Plus, Microsoft introduced a new HTML5 player so that users can play videos on any device they're using. The company promised a "secure adaptive" video stream, regardless of user's mobile browser.

But that's not all, the tech giant also made some other user-requested changes. For example, within channels, there are now three different permission levels that can be assigned to users: Owners, Editors, and Viewers. Besides, users can also share videos via email in addition to Yammer.

Moving forward, users will be able to select their own thumbnails and also embed videos outside of the portal including Sites' pages, internal blog posts, and in Yammer feeds). The tech giant reportedly confirmed that these updates are coming in the near future.
