It looks like UFC strawweight Paige VanZant doesn't intend to step into the octagon with UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
According to UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, VanZant could be the next great female fighter, but she would "absolutely not" beat UFC's most dominant fighter, Ronda Rousey.
Fresh from her career's biggest win, UFC's new rising female star would reportedly get "murdered" in a fight with Rowdy, so says Demetrious Johnson, TMZ noted.
21-year-old VanZant, who extended her UFC record to 2-0 this weekend with a dominating performance at "UFC on FOX 15," allegedly doesn't stand a chance against Rousey in the octagon. VanZant has got a lot of stuff to work on following her victory over Felice Herrig, according to Johnson.
VanZant. a former Invicta FC fighter, appeared on TMZ Hollywood Sports on April 21 where she opened up about how she made the transition from being a dancer to a legit wrecking machine. Her parents reportedly owned a dance studio so she was brought up dancing ballet, jazz, and hip hop. She danced for over 13 years.
Talking about her success, VanZant thanked Ronda Rousey for paving the way for women to fight in the UFC. The folks at TMZ then asked VanZant if she and Rousey would ever meet in the middle and fight, although they are from different weight classes.
"Never ever, we're in different weight classes so we don't have to," VanZant.
Ronda Rousey fights 20 lbs heavier than Paige VanZant does, Fansided notes.
That said, it would be ambiguous to tag a possible Rousey vs VanZant match as a mega fight. Especially considering that VanZant has two wins in her UFC career, while Rousey has beaten Miesha Tate for the title twice, not to mention the really long list of opponents. Plus, Ronda who is fresh from her WWE WrestleMania 31 epic appearance seems to be on a roll.
