Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Quinton Jackson has finally been restored to the league and he is set to compete at UFC 186 on Saturday in Montreal.
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has won an emergency appeal of an injunction in the New Jersey Superior Court Appellate Division, ABCNews reported. This will allow him to compete on April 25.
After rival promoter Bellator won an injunction in New Jersey, claiming that "Rampage" still had three fights left on his six-fight contract, his return to the Octagon was put on hold earlier this month. According to TheNorthernView, Jackson's camp, on the other hand, argued that the contract was void as Bellator had failed to live up to its promises.
On April 21 the UFC announced that not only has the injunction been lifted but also that Jackson would go toe-to-toe with Brazil's Fabio Maldonado in the co-main event at the Bell Centre, as originally planned. The UFC 186 card now features Jackson Vs. Maldonado and Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi as the co-main event.
UFC boss Dana White said, "We are happy with the decision from the New Jersey Court allowing Rampage to fight in Montreal this Saturday night."
White added that he is looking forward to seeing Rampage back in the Octagon.
Despite the original ruling, Rampage continued to train and prepare as if he was fighting, and now his hard work is about to pay off, FOXSports noted.
Former semi-pro hockey player Steve Bosse, who replaced Jackson on the card, has been yanked from the show and will no longer compete at UFC 186.
Jackson debuted in the UFC in 2007 with a second round knockout of Marvin Eastman. In May, the same year Jackson stunned everyone with the first round finish of Chuck Liddell that earned him the UFC lightweight championship.
Although he won all three of his fights in Bellator, Jackson left the UFC following a loss in Janurary 2013.
