"Eye Candy" has been officially cancelled after its first season. Victoria Justice took to Twitter to break the sad news to fans on Saturday.
“Hi everyone! I wanted you guys to hear it from me first, that the cast and I received news that 'Eye Candy' will not be returning for season 2," Victoria Justice said via Twitter, confirming the cancellation of the MTV series.
“Even though a lot of you are going to feel sad/angry, please know that playing Lindy Sampson, is something that I loved and I will hold dear to my heart.”
After it debuted on January, "Eye Candy," which was based on R.L.'s Stine's book, has since aired a series of 10 episodes. The crime thriller rounds to the story of a 21-year-old lady hacker who, after joining a dating site, may suspect one of her suitors to be a serial killer.
Justice, in her Twitter statement, thanked "Eye Candy" executive producers Jason Blum and Christian Taylor under the banner of Blumhouse Productions. She says "You guys are amazing." After thanking the show runners, Justice then thanked the show fans.
"Last but definitely not at all least, thank you to the amazing fans. I saw all of your WW trends (it might be 23 or 24 to date) and your unflinching support. It's because of all of you that I get to do what I love," tweets Justice.
"I am beyond grateful for that. It made me so happy that you embraced the show the way you did. I was so lucky to have you guys along for the ride, because you made it that much more exciting!" she added.
Before the show was cancelled, fans and cast of "Eye Candy" have expressed optimism of the show's renewal. There was even a petition wherein fans urged the network executives to give season 2 a second chance. Unfortunately, it was not enough to convince MTV.
As reported by Inquisitr, MTV have yet to release an explanation as to why "Eye Candy" was cancelled. Many, however, speculate that it was because of the low ratings and poor storyline.
