Budget-conscious smartphone buyers can now get the new Xiaomi Mi 4i in India and other Asian countries without burning a hole in their pockets.
The popular Chinese electronics company has just upped the competition in the smartphone space in India with its newest smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 4i, which will be soon available across all Xiaomi channels, such as Amazon, Snapdeal, and the Mobile Store, according to IBNLive. More than 1,500 fans packed the Siri Fort Auditorium in India to witness the first global launch event.
At its first major launch event outside China, Xiaomi on April 23 unveiled the Mi 4i in New Delhi, India. Speaking about what Xiaomi is calling its new flagship for India, Vice President of Xiaomi Hugo Barra revealed that the "i" in 4i stands for "India."
"Of course when I go to Indonesia, the 'i' will be for Indonesia," Barra joked.
TheVerge noted that all the elements one would link with a Xiaomi launch event were present.
Barra did his best Steve Jobs impression on stage, slamming Apple in the presence of hysterical "Mi fans." Xiaomi's newest smartphone has been constantly compared to Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The event was attended by local and international tech media and bloggers.
The Mi 4i boasts an array of exciting specs at a budget price.

The phone has a unibody design and is powered by a 2nd-gen Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor. Featuring a full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels at 441 PPI, the 5-inch device draws its juice from a 3120mAh battery that assures 1.5 days of normal usage.
Xiaomi Mi 4i has a 13MP rear camera with a two-tone flash and a 5MP front camera with a selfie timer. It's a 4G dual SIM device that comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The UX is Xiaomi's MIUI 6.
The smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
On the connectivity front, Mi 4i is a dual SIM device and supports 4G on both SIM card slots. In addition, it includes 802.11ac WiFi with M-MIMO support (supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands), WiFi display and WiFi Direct, Bluetooth HID, and Bluetooth 4.1.
Xiaomi has also unveiled its Mi Band for the Indian market at a price of Rs. 999 ($15).
The Mi Band fitness tracker that not only tracks exercise but also monitors sleep patterns will be sold exclusively on Mi.com. Moreover, the Mi Band can also automatically unlock Mi phones and other Android 5.0 devices.
The IndianExpress noted that the first 1,000 units will be sold for Re. 1 and registrations for the same starts on April 28.
The Mi Band is water-resistant and will be available in a wide range of strap colors, including Pink, Green, Blue, and Black. It comes with leather straps, too.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i carries a very competitive price tag of Rs. 12,999 (around $200). The phone goes on sale from April 30. Check out Mi 4i image gallery here.
