Female gamers who make up almost half of the gaming population will be happy after Daybreak announced that the "H1Z1" is soon getting female character models.
Daybreak Game Company president John Smedley recently announced on Twitter that the company's PC zombie MMO "H1Z1" is set to get lady character models soon.
As soon as female avatars arrive, "H1Z1" will close in with another popular zombie title "DayZ," which already has female avatars, GameSpot noted.
"Hoping to get the female model into H1Z1 in the next two weeks," Smedley said. He added that the company is trying for late next week.
In March, Daybreak revealed that over one million copies have been sold via Steam since its early access release on January 15. The company also revealed that more than 5,000 users have been banned for cheating, according to IGN.
Development on female H1Z1 character models began last month as part of a wider effort to give a facelift to the look and diversity of both male and female avatars.
GameSpot noted that Daybreak has designed its female characters to "look relatively typical, but somewhat athletic."
Moreover, the female model will be comparatively the same height as the male model, ensuring that there will be no advantage as far as hit target space. Daybreak art director Sebastian Strzalkowski revealed that the company is also creating male and female equivalent clothing. A player who finds a pair of Jeans in "H1Z1" as a male PC and wears them, will have the male version visually, and if a player finds that same pair as a female PC, will have the female version visually.
Although a bit modified to fit each gender, in-game "H1Z1" clothes will be basically the same.
"Nothing will be restricted to either gender and there will always be a 1:1 equivalent for each one," Strzalkowski explained.
Though "H1Z1" experienced some server issues at the launch, it has since gone on to sell more than 1 million copies in its unfinished state. The game released through Steam Early Access in January.
The game is slated to come to PlayStation 4, although a release date has not been announced. It's worth noting that the company has not revealed any intention to bring "H1Z1" to Xbox One despite the fact that Daybreak has broken free from Sony and is eyeing Xbox support.
Players can expect to see the new playable characters go live with the forthcoming update to the game, which is currently scheduled for April 30.
