WWE takes the next plunge of brutality by hosting the first pay-per-view match after the WrestleMania event last month with Extreme Rules.
The grand event witnesses an intense match against John Cena and Rusev.
After the WrestleMania 31 event last month, WWE decided to take the next step and hosted the first pay per view match April 26. The Extreme Rules Event took place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Superstars from the WWE Universe were present at the event. In addition to the exciting turns, there were some really interesting feuds that had the viewers on the edge of their seats.
One of the high points of the event was the fight between John Cena and Rusev. Cena had already defeated Rusev a few weeks ago in the WWE United States Championship. Ever since, Rusev had been waiting for his turn to give it back to Cena and fight him again. The much-awaited turn came in the pay per view event where Rusev, also known as the Unstoppable Russian, decided to exercise his rematch clause, Fansided noted.
The intense match between the two superstars reportedly became the first Russian Chain Match in WWE history. In order to win this type of match, both wrestlers had to take out their opponent and touch the four turnbuckles in succession to win. Both Cena and Rusev put in maximum efforts from the opening bell.
Both men played tug of war before the unstoppable Russian crushed Cena in the corner. Although Rusev was able to touch the first two corners, Cena fought back hitting three corners before Rusev cut him off. Rusev then drilled Cena with kicks and took control of the match, SportsKeeda noted.
Rusev threw Cena back in from the apron, using the chain to hurt Cena. Rusev even connected it with a spinning heel kick and tagged three turnbuckles before Cena could finally stop the assault of brutality.
It was a sight to watch as the crowd chanted for the ravishing Russian, Lana and she cheered fo Rusev. However, Rusev looked annoyed and sent her to the back. Cena tried to take advantage of the brief distraction with an AA, but Rusev connected with an Alabama Slam instead.
Finally, Cena powered out of the Accolade, as both the superstars touched three turnbuckles each. Cena and Rusev looked at each other, and as Rusev rushed to tag the last turnbuckle, Cena pulled him with the chain and this time connected with the AA, and then tagged the last turnbuckle to successfully defend his WWE United States Championship.
