The Albuquerque police are reportedly seeking to speak with Jon Jones in relation to a recent car accident.

Jon Jones was sought by officials after a Sunday morning hit-and-run car accident, in which 20-year-old pregnant woman suffered injuries requiring hospitalization.

The Associated Press (AP) cites Simon Drobik, a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department, to report that despite having no charges filed against him; the UFC Light-heavyweight Champion is wanted for questioning.

The City of Albuquerque said in a statement, on Sunday that the car of the pregnant woman was struck and she was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car had fled the scene.

"The Albuquerque Police Department is actively seeking UFC Fighter Jon Jones for questioning in regards to his possible involvement in a hit-and-run accident," the statement said. The accident took place near the intersection of Juan Tabo and Southern, in Southeast Albuquerque early this morning, April 26, 2015. The statement also asked Mr. Jones to contact the Albuquerque Police Department as they continue to investigate.

According to officials, attempts to contact Jones and his lawyer had been unsuccessful. Rumors making rounds on social media even hinted involvement of drugs in Sunday's crash, however TMZ reported that these rumors couldn't be confirmed.

Reporter David Kano spoke to Albuquerque Police spokesman Simon Drobik who told him that rumors that drugs were found in Jones' car are false.

"I don't know where the hell that came from," Drobick told Kano.

UFC boss Dana White said he was still trying to gather fact and added that no decision has yet been made regarding Jones' status for UFC 187.

Jones is slated to defend his title against Anthony Johnson on May 23 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. According to MMAWeekly, the fight may now be in jeopardy.

This is apparently not the first time Jones is in trouble. He failed a random pre-fight test that was administered by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Jones tested positive for cocaine, however since that positive test came out of competition and was not banned under World Anti-Doping Agency regulations, he was able to compete.

Jones even went into a drug rehabilitation center only to check out the next day, according to Yahoo Sports.

On August 4, Jones got into a brawl with Daniel Cormier in the lobby of the MGM Grand. He was fined $50,000 and given 40 hours of community service; however he was not suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Jones became the youngest champion in UFC history after at the age of 23 -- winning the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in March 2011.
