Jeremy Lin won't likely return to Los Angeles Lakers next season as the Linsanity and purple and gold seemed a "bad fit." Meanwhile, Rajon Rondo could be the perfect interim point guard while the team guns for Oklahoma Thunder firebrand Russell Westbrook in 2017.
In Jeff Biggs's The Forum talk show on Sports Center, ESPN reporter Arash Markazi said that although the Los Angeles Lakers have not ruled out a Linsanity resurgence next season, that scenario seems unlikely.
"I don't think they've ruled it out, I don't think it's a good fit. I don't' think if that's fit will work for either," he said. "I think it will be the last case scenario.
"For Lin, he should go somewhere else where he could actually play," he added. "I don't know why they would try this again."
But who would replace Jeremy Lin in the point guard position, since Jeremy Clarkson-who had a good run after the All-Star break-is still very raw.
Arash Markazi said that Rajon Rondo could be an upgrade over Linsanity.
"The reason I like rondo fit, is you can get him on the cheap, before that whole fiasco happened and he's not playing because he had a 'bad back,' I thought he was gonna get a ton on the market and the Lakers could not sign him," he said.
"Now, I think he's gonna be available for a one to two year deal which would be perfect for the Lakers, why? Russell Westbrook," the reporter added.
"He's not available for the next two years, he becomes a free agent in 2017. For this two-year time period, if you could take a chance at Rajon Rondo, and he comes in on the cheap, plays with Kobe, who says he loves playing with him and wants to play with him, that could work."
Jeremy Lin earlier said during the exit interview that he's open to coming back with the Los Angeles Lakers, but will explore the market as a free agent. Linsanity averaged 11.2 points and 4.6 assists for the season.
