Minecraft is all set to launch a new default character that brings thinner arms, redder hair, and a ponytail on April 29.

"Alex," the first female character, will join Steve, the game's male lead, as the only other default character to Minecraft's fans for free, according to Time.

Minecraft's Owen Hill explained on parent company Mojang's official blog.

"Now, everyone loves Steve. He's probably the most famous minecrafter in the world, and has excellent stubble. But jolly old Steve doesn't really represent the diversity of our player base."

Hence, the introduction of Alex.

Hill further adds that she brings thinner arms, redder hair, and a ponytail.

Simpsons Skin Pack Comes To Minecraft PlayStation

Last month, 4J Studios officially launched the Simpsons skin pack for Minecraft Xbox One and Xbox 360 editions. The update was rolled out without any detailed reveal or official change log. The Simpsons skin pack is coming to PlayStation, allowing players to build their own version of Springfield.

The Simpsons, along with a bunch of their closest friends, acquaintances and enemies, are on the way to the sandbox. These include Principal Skinner, Groundskeeper Willie and even Dewey Largo.

The downloadable pack for Xbox is on sale now for $1.99, but there is no word yet on how much Sony's PlayStation version costs.

Since Microsoft purchased Minecraft maker Mojang for a whopping $2.5 billion in September, the tech giant has been making some changes, PCMag noted. Microsoft added 30 new achievements for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft this week. This boosts the odds of getting a 1,000 game score.

"Hunt them down but don't let them rule your playtime. And don't forget to eat or go to the toilet," Owen said.

He further added that they are also bringing a bundle of new music tracks to Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition.
