The official trailer for "Awkward" season 5 has just been released. On Wednesday, MTV revealed that the series' fifth and final season will be returning on Aug. 31.

According to "Awkward" season 5 spoilers from TV Line, Jenna (Ashely Rickards) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff)'s relationship will be the central focus of the show. The show runners promised that viewers will finally get to know the real score between the duo.

"Listen, it's never over until it's over. Those two characters are still alive, right? That's basically what's going to have to happen for Jatty to no longer exist - someone's going to have to die," Rickards said.

It may be "Awkward's" final season but fans can definitely expect a lot of twists and exciting storylines which includes promposal, senior pranks, house parties, and even an engagement.

In the forthcoming episodes, Jenna, together with the entire cast will also come to terms with the fact that there are only a few weeks left until graduation and that they will all have to move on.

As previously reported by TV By the Numbers, the second half of the series will fast forward to a year later after they have all graduated from high school.

"It's finally here! We have been through many of their high school ups and downs and at the end of the first half of season 5 we finally see Jenna and her friends graduate. But the story doesn't end there," said MTV Senior Vice President Mina Lefevre teased.

"In the second half of season five we pick up with the cast a year later...where they quickly realize those Awkward moments don't stop once you leave high school. This opens up endless opportunities to continue telling their story," she said.
