Asus ZenFone 2 Available In The US Starting At $199, Company Set To Use Snapdragon 615 SoC For Upcoming Smartphones

Asus CEO Jerry Shen has disclosed that the company will use new chipsets in future smartphones while the latest flagship of the company, the ZenFone 2 is now available in the US.

According to Liliputing, the Asus ZenFone 2 retails starting at $199 and different variants of the device have been listed to be available for pre-order from Amazon. However, the listings have been removed.

"The listings have been removed, but I suspect the pricing is accurate. Asus had planned to hold a launch event today, but it's been postponed. Someone probably forgot to tell Amazon," the site said.

Geeky Gadgets reported that Asus ZenFone 2 will be launching in the US "very soon." As the listing for the device on Amazon has been removed, an interested customer should wait until the company releases an announcement about it.

The publication added that for $199 and up, customers can get a device with 5.5-inch screen, 1920 x 1080 resolution, Intel Atom Z3560 processor, dual SIM, 2GB of RAM, 13MP camera, MicroSD card slot and 802.11ac WiFi.

Furthermore, the CEO of Asus, Jerry Shen, said that the company will use Snapdragon 615 SoC in its future smartphone, according to YugaTech. He clarified that this does not mean that the company will end its partnership with Intel, as the other top-end models will run the chipsets from Intel.

He added that the company will follow the same naming convention, like the Apple, which means that Asus' next flagship is expected to be named ZenFone 3.

Meanwhile, Shen has confirmed that the company has no plans to bring the first generation of ZenWatch to India. In addition, he said that the next smartwatch will arrive in two variants, one for women and one for men, cited Gadgets NDTV.
