While it seems that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will be only released for PC, Xbox One and PS4, Activision Support may just have teased a version for Wii U.
Wii U was clearly absent from the list of platforms when it was revealed that "Black Ops 3" is slated to come out later this year.
When one Twitter user asked Activision and Treyarch why fans can connect their Nintendo IDs to the Call of Duty site if the developer and publisher of the much-awaited first-person shooter video game are not developing anything for it, Activision Support simply replied, "Stay tuned for more Wii U releases."
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is currently confirmed for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
When the Black Ops 3 website offered visitors the chance to link their Nintendo Network ID, suspicions suggesting that the game would be ported to the Wii U were raised. That said, last year's "Advance Warfare" didn't make it to the console, with "Ghosts" (2013) being the last time the franchise appeared on a Nintendo system, according to GameRant.
"Black Ops 3" is currently not scheduled to release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; however, there's still a large audience of players yet to upgrade their systems who'd gladly purchase the new "Call of Duty." Is this an indication that Activision is actually prepping a second title to target those systems along with the Wii U? Fans will need to wait and see.
Games such as "Finest Hour" and "Big Red One" were designed to be supplementary to the main series, although offering a different campaign but sharing same mechanics. It wouldn't be surprising if another studio works on a "Black Ops 3" spin-off for other consoles, or probably even a title based entirely around the game's fan favorite Zombies mode.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," a sequel to the 2012 game, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" has death robots with guns for arms, which is a profound departure from previous iterations of the series that featured little death robot action, IGN noted.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is slated to launch on Nov. 6, 2015.
If the cryptic support tweet from Activision and the Nintendo content on the "Black Ops 3" site are any indications to go by, do you think something is actually in the works for "Call of Duty" fans? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
