Nina Dobrev's decision to quit "The Vampire Diaries" has been the subject of speculations, from looking to create a movie career to alleged tension on the set because of ex Ian Somerhalder's relationship with Nikki Reed.
Julie Plec, the co-creator of "The Vampire Diaires" is setting the records straight on Nina Dobrev's quitting the show during an interview with KCRW podcast.
Plec said per Just Jared, "She was just looking forward to moving on with no hard feelings and no drama."
She explained further, "Nina had said earlier this year that she wanted to be done and we spent a little bit of time trying to talk her out of it. [We'd say,] 'Oh, look at all these great plans of how you can stay!' And she finally was like, 'No, I signed up for six years. I've done my six years. I'm ready to move on and spread my wings.'"
Julie Plec, however, claimed that Nina Dobrev's quitting "The Vampire Diaries" was disappointing, it nevertherless infused a bit of enthusiasm to the show's writers.
" This is taking the personal out of it completely, from a storytelling point of view it's a great challenge," she said. "As writers in the room we're finding it very rejuvenating. Just on a strictly creative exercise level.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Dirty Laundry claimed that "The Vampire Diaries" is in danger of being cancelled altogether because of Nina Dobrev's decision to quit the series.
The article claimed that although Nina Dobrev is not "really a name in Hollywood" due to minor movie roles, she's still a very important cog in the show's wheel.
"It's also important to note that The Vampire Diaries really can't succeed without their lead actress, no matter how much they try," the article claimed.
"We're hearing that there's a solid chance that the show will end up getting cancelled within the next year, especially if they don't figure out a way to work around Nina's quitting."
