Bungie is geared up to patch Destiny to version 1.2, however the update won't activate until later.

Activision teased a major new update for Destiny during its first quarter call with investors. The forthcoming update is scheduled for later this year, IGN noted.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said, "We'll have a major release which is the biggest addition to the Destiny universe yet."

Kotick further added that the company is confident it will "be compelling not just to current Destiny fans, but to people who have not yet see the Destiny universe."

As far as upcoming changes to the first-person shooter video game are concerned, Destiny's 1.2.0 update which boasts a long list of changes including major tweaks to Commendations and more, is slated to arrive May 6, Bungie announced on Twitter.

GameSpot noted that a follow-up tweet explained that the patch won't actually be activated until sometime later.

Bungie's support account on Twitter explained that the patch will force players out of the activities so they can download the update. The studio added, "the work being done by @BungieHelp today will deploy 1.2.0 but not activate it. Changes will go live at a later date to be announced."

No details were shared about how big the download is.

According to Polygon, Destiny version 1.2 which is scheduled to go live shortly before or at, the launch of the House of Wolves expansion on May 19, will deliver comprehensive changes for all players, irrespective of whether they buy the add-on.

While fans faithfully wait for the forthcoming updates, publisher Activision has revealed that as of March 31, Destiny has hit more than 20 million registered players, with active players playing more than three hours a day.
