An enhanced edition of action role-playing game, "Risen 3: Titan Lords" is coming to PlayStation 4, publisher Deep Silver has announced.
The enhanced edition includes all updates along with previously released DLC content including Uprising of the Little Guys, Adventure Grab, and Fog Island with graphics as good as the Ultra settings on the original PC release.
The sequel to "Risen 2: Dark Waters," and the third installment in the Risen series, Risen 3 is a pirate-themed open world RPG originally released for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 last year, IGN noted.
On PlayStation 4, "Risen 3" contains higher resolution textures as opposed to the PC version, the introduction new post-process effects such as depth of field and HDR bloom effect, as well as an "all-new volumetric cloud system" which makes the skies pop during the dynamic day-night cycles, according to VG24/7.
In addition, the PS4 version runs at 1080p at 30 FPS. It will also support Remote Play, streaming, Share Play and recording.
In a press release Björn Pankratz, Project Director at Piranha Bytes said, "With the Enhanced Edition we have the great opportunity to acquaint even more console gamers with our way of crafting worlds. Due to the graphical updates, they can enjoy the exploration of the living and breathing world more than ever."
Instead of reviving the pirate theme of the second, "Risen 3" returns to the medieval settings of the first Risen.
Replacing the protagonist from the two previous games, the player is placed in the role of a new "Nameless Hero." The new player character was never mentioned or seen before the third game, but is revealed to be the brother of recurring NPC Patty Steelbeard, and son of the deceased pirate captain Gregorius Emanuel Steelbear, and one of the few pirate captains left in the world.
GameSpot's review of "Risen 3" state that the glitches and irritations poke at players' patience. As long as the driftwood doesn't keep players at shore, "Risen 3" has the potential to sweep the away.
Deep Silver told GameSpot "Risen 3" Enhanced Edition is currently confirmed for PlayStation 4 only. It releases on Aug. 21, 2015.
