After several months of speculations, CBS has finally cancelled "Stalker" series. The crime drama has been axed due to its low ratings after only one season.
Several online channels have reported that "Stalker" has been cancelled by CBS early this week. The series' rating might have increased when it was moved to the 9 p.m. Monday timeslot, however, it was not enough for the network to give the show another chance.
The finale episode of "Stalker" will air on Monday, May 18.
"Stalker" series creator Kevin Williamson has always been optimistic about the show's future in spite of its low ratings.
Speaking to TV Line, Williamson said that he, together with the writers, are busy coming up with plotlines on what will happen in case there will be a second season.
"I have to have hope, right? You can't get out of bed if you don't have a little hope," he said.
"Anything's possible. I'm not a guy who just sits around and waits to hear. You're sitting in a room with a bunch of writers all year, and we've been laying the groundwork for season two."
It has yet to be confirmed if "Stalker" season 2 could air elsewhere.
The cop thriller drama series "Stalker" tells the story of LAPD's Threat Assessment Unit's work, a group of people investigating stalking cases. The series stars Mariana Klaveno, Victor Rasuk, Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott.
Various online channels has since expressed different views on the probability of a "Stalker" renewal. GameNGuide previously predicted that "Stalker" has a 50/50 chance of being renewed for Season 2 by CBS while Business Insider listed the series as one of the "15 TV shows that will most likely be canceled in the next few weeks."
Additional series renewals, cancellations and pick-ups will be announced by CBS in the coming days.
