The "Game of Thrones" season 5, episode 5 recap proved that Daenerys Targayen has become quite the politician as she set aside her personal feelings to marry Hizdahr Zo Loraq in order to unite the Meereenese.

Meanwhile, Sansa Stark, had to also forget her anger for a bit as she came face to face with Theon Greyjoy, whom she believed killed her two brothers, for a much bigger agenda.

This recap may contain spoilers for "Game of Thrones" season 5, episode 5 titled "Kill the Boy."

Both Daenerys and Sansa knew that they could no longer stand idly by as the world around them crumbles. They have to participate in order to regain control of their respective destiny.

"Daenerys is using her image and reputation for more than just symbolism. Marrying the dopey Hizdahr zo Loraq (he speaks for the Meereenese!) is a canny inversion of the Sansa story line," said Grantland. "No longer can Daenerys be a bystander to a slow-burning tragedy of her own making. She has to put her actual skin into the game if she has any hope of winning it. Or, as the ghosts of Valyria might say if anyone were listening, you have to make history before you're consigned to it."

In this "Game of Thrones" season 5, episode 5 recap, Sansa also came face-to-face with Theon Greyjoy in one of the kennels.

During dinner that night, Ramsay Bolton, ever the sadist, made sure that Theon Greyjoy apologize to Sansa Stark for the murder of her brothers. While he looked forward to the wedding with Sansa, his position as heir to Roose Bolton became quite precarious when the latter announced at dinner that his heavyset wife is expecting a son.

Brienne of Tarth, however, managed to send word for Sansa to light a candle at the broken tower if ever she finds herself in trouble.

Elsewhere, Sansa's bastard brother, Jon Snow, took a risk by trying to convince his Night's Watch brothers to form an alliance with the Wildlings in preparation for the coming winter and the Whie Walkers.

Meanwhile, Jorah Mormont was infected with the grayscale after he was touched by the Stone Men while protecting Tyrion Lannister. Of course, the diminutive Tyrion-while thanking Mormont for saving him-dryly commented that they wouldn't have been in the position they were in if he hadn't been abducted in the first place.
