Looks like a good news for gamers who own gaming title as Larian Studios will be giving them the upcoming "Divinity: Original Sin" Enhanced Edition for free.
While many speculated that "Diablo 3" wouldn't be possible on consoles, it turned out to be the best version of the title. Larian Studios would be hoping that the same holds true for its role-playing game "Divinity: Original Sin" in the form of an Enhanced Edition.
Larian Studios announced on Friday, May 15, that it is doing a new Enhanced Edition of its popular single-player and cooperative multiplayer fantasy role-playing video game, but it's not just some patch or a petty content update.
The newest version is slated to ship with local co-op, fully voiced characters, along with new content, adjustments to the crafting system, and a reworked story with a new ending, according to records on IGN.
The "Divinity: Original Sin" Enhanced Edition will be rolled out for Mac, PC, SteamOS, and Linux. Gamers who have wanted to play the title with a controller, support is expected to come as soon as releases at the end of 2015. In order to show gratitude to everyone who helped make the game a success, the Enhanced Edition will be completely free to everyone who owns the game.
"Divinity: Original Sin" Enhanced Edition is a completely separate game: not an update to "Divinity: Original Sin," Larian wrote on its website. The studio also noted that both games will remain available on PC as well as Mac. Plus, Larian explained that they are totally different titles, thus Players who already bought Original Sin will see separate listings for "Divinity: Original Sin" and "Divinity: Original Sin" Enhanced Edition in their Steam Library.
This also implies that saved games can't be transferred from "Divinity: Original Sin" to the Enhanced Edition. According to the studio, this is mainly because they have made technical changes to how the game looks and feel. In addition, the story too has been rewritten so massively that most saved games would not be compatible with the plot anymore.
That being said, the Enhance Edition of "Divinity: Original Sin" is not the only project the Larian has been working on since its popular game released last summer.
Larian founder and creative director Swen Vincke told Polygon that it's just one of three upcoming projects they are currently working on.
Vincke noted that the two other secret projects will be turned-based RPGs.
Although Larian Studios is sticking with the turn-based RPG format, Vincke admitted that the success of "Divinity: Original Sin" is allowing the developer to take risks, it would not take otherwise.
