Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron reportedly will join the "Fifty Shades Darker" cast.

According to News Everyday, Sean Penn's girlfriend might play the role as Elena Lincoln, the former love interest of Christian Grey.

"A new rumor is claiming that Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron will play Elena Lincoln, a former love interest to Grey. Lincoln, who was Grey's sexual dominant, will affect the relations between Grey and his new love, Anastasia Steele," it said.

Aside from Theron, Cara Delevingne is also rumored to join Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) in the film. She is speculated to play the role as Leila Williams, a former submissive of Christian Grey.

As of the writing, film executives has not yet released any statement about the rumors as well as the cast of the "Fifty Shades Darker."

Moreover, there is no word yet on who the new director will be in "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel.

However, according to reports the auto of the series E.L. James might direct the film, cited Hollywood Life.

According to the publication an insider said that Sam Taylor will not be the director of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel and added that E.L. James has expressed her willingness to direct the movie, but some are hesitant.

"She wants to do it, but the studio obviously sees the nightmares that could come from that. It's going to be someone new and the announcement will probably be made around July," said an insider.

Furthermore, the movie will also feature a new script writer as reported by Fashion & Style, the husband of E.L. James, Niall Leonard, will be the new screenwriter of "Fifty Shades Darker" as he will replace Kelly Marcel, who wrote the script of the first film.

Meanwhile, the "Fifty Shades Darker" release date is set on Feb. 10, 2017 and the "Fifty Shades Free" is scheduled on Feb. 9 the following year.
