The Chairman of Asus has announced that the Zenfone 2 will be available in Canada and in the US starting on May 19.
"Asus Chairman Jonny Shih today introduced Zenfone 2 and the latest Zenbook models to the United States and Canada at the Incredible Comes to New Your press event. Hosted and sophisticated and stylish Gotham Hall in Manhattan, the event showcased a line-up of meticulously-crafted products in their North American debut," according to the press release of Asus.
Shih stated that he is excited to bring the device to North America, he said: "Zenfone 2 has been incredibly popular with consumers in Asia and Europe, and we are very excited to bring this empowering luxury to North America."
"Striking the perfect balance of beauty, functionality, and performance, Zenfone 2 embodies every aspect of the ASUS in Search of Incredible brand spirit to provide an unparalleled experience to users," he added.
Moreover, Aicha Evans, Intel corporate vice president and general manager of the Communication and Devices Group, has joined Shih and claimedthat they are also excited to support the Asus to bring the Zenfone 2 in North America.
"With the Zenfone 2, people will have a great mobile experience in an affordable and sleek form factor, enabled by the 64-bit Intel Atom processor together with Intel's LTE-Advanced XMM 7260 modem for fast and reliable cellular speeds," said Evans.
Furthermore, two variants of Asus Zenfone 2 will be offered, both coming with the ZE551ML model number.
GSM Arena reported that for $199 sans carrier contract and unlocked, the customer can get a smartphone with 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, 5MP front-facing camera, 13MP rear camera, Intel Atom Z3560 chipset with 1.8 GHz quad-core CPU, 16 GB of expandable storage, 2 GB of RAM and 3000 mAh battery.
The publication wrote that "if you're able to shell out $100 more, the RAM amount doubles to 4GB, storage becomes 64GB, and the chipset is bumped up to an Intel Atom Z3580, which has a 2.3 GHz quad-core CPU."
Meanwhile, both models of Asus Zenfone 2 will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with Asus ZenUI on top.
