Gamers are in for a good news as Take-Two announced that WWE 2K16 is all set to hit stores in October this year.
During its earning call for fiscal year 2015, 2K Sports announced WWE 2K16, the next title in hit professional wrestling franchise. Few other details were revealed on the WWE 2K16 during the call. An unannounced, triple A title from 2K was also hinted during the call, but no details were given.
WWE 2K15 was initially launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in Oct. and was then brought to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November and last April it finally landed on PC as well, according to Digital Spy.
WWE 2K16 is slated to hit stores on Oct. 27, 2015.
Over the past several years the WWE franchise has launched on the last Tuesday of Oct., under 2K Sports and prior to that, THQ. That being said, the Oct. 27 release date for WWE 2K16 is specifically for North America. The international release date is three days later, Take-Two noted.
Take-Two revenues were $1.7 billion for the year, down from the same period in 2014 when the company reported $2.4 billion, as a result of launching Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, according to reports on IGN.
Noticeably, the upcoming NBA 2K16 was not associated with a specific launch date in the same investor filing, which was listed as "Fall 2015." Licensed sports products such as NBA 2K15 generally have a launch date set by their league, and the NBA for several years has started on the first Tuesday of Oct.
EA Sports' NBA Live series on the other hand launched after NBA 2K in 2013 as well as in 2014.
WWE 2K16 and NBA 2K16, both reportedly have a career mode written by Oscar-nominated film maker Spike Lee, and are the only two console titles to be named for release in Fall 2015 quarter.
The recently announced expansion to "Civilization: Beyond Earth" is slated to launch on Windows PC in that same span. Gearbox Software's co-op shooter, "Battleborn" has been given a Fiscal Year 2016 launch slot following that, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
With E3 nearing, fans can expect to hear more details about the forthcoming title in the popular wrestling franchise soon.
