Looks like the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 Edge might get a new name and surprisingly it will not be featuring an S Pen.

While fans speculate what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Edge would turn out to be more impressive but it possibly won't be called the Galaxy Note 5 Edge.

Rumors doing rounds hint that the specs will depart from what the Note 5 offers. But that's not all, according to reports on SamMobile, it won't support one of the Note's defining features, the S Pen functionality.

This move from the South Korean smartphone giant is quiet surprising. This implies that it will be something like a bigger version the Galaxy S6 Edge.

The reason behind the surprising move is still unknown, however Samsung surely seem to have a good reason for this as the device's model number and its codename are similar to that of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

What's worth noting is that Samsung Galaxy S6 was originally codenamed Project Zero, and the internal codename for the reported Galaxy Note Edge has been changed from Project Zen to Project Zero 2.

Clear View and S View cases will supposedly be released for both the Galaxy Note 5 and Project Zero 2, which is not at all surprising. In addition, there's also word of a Keyboard Cover for them. Considering that they are phablets, they could probably support a mini keyboard as well, Tech Radar noted.

Both devices are slated to be launched at IFA 2015, which will take place from Sept. 4 - 9. Judging by Samsung's past form, that move was completely expected. That being said, it's always nice to have something approaching a confirmation and debunk rumors that it might arrive early.

Plus, the devices should be worth the wait too, citing earlier rumors that hint either a 2K or 4K screen and Exynos 7422 processor for the Galaxy Note 5 and a 5.4 or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED dual-curved screen and a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chip for the Note 5 Edge.
