While wrestling fans have been waiting for the Olympic gold medalist, Kurt Angle, to return to the WWE, it looks like the company doesn't want him back.

Talking about his highly publicized contract talks with WWE and TNA from late 2014, American professional wrestler, Kurt Angle, told Sports Illustrated that he would retire after his concluding stint with Impact Wrestling, unless he could make a comeback to the WWE.

Is Kurt Angle's WWE Return Even Possible?

No doubt, Angle is one of the greatest amateur-turned-pro wrestlers in the history of the business. Also, he is one of the top 10 performers WWE has had in the last 15 years. Only "The Beast Incarnate," Brock Lesnar had propelled to the top of the business quicker than Angle.

Since granting him an early release back in Aug. 2006, the World Wrestling Entertainment has not even considered bringing him back to the company. Despite the fact that Kurt Angle is on his last leg, he is having some great matches over in TNA. The big question here is why is the WWE not bringing back someone is a definitely a future WWE Hall of Famer? Apparently, Kurt Angle does have the answer for that.

When the Olympic gold medalist was asked In an interview about his possible WWE return since his abrupt exit from the company almost a decade ago, and if WWE's lack of interest has anything to do with him having issues with WWE's COO Paul Levesque (Triple H), Angle told The Mirror, "I don't think that Triple H and I have any problems with each other, I've always liked him. He's always treated me with respect and I've always treated him the same. No, I don't think it was that."

"There was a point when my manager talked to them and I believe they did say 'he would have to wrestle full-time.' That is not an option for me, not at this point in my career," Angle added.

Kurt Angle admitted that he thinks the WWE is not really keen on signing him at that point. He stated that it could have been due to his mishaps in the past or simply because they didn't think he was healthy enough to go, "and obviously I am," he added.

The Olympic gold medalist stated that the WWE never gave him a full answer of why he couldn't return. Apparently, there was no option, Inquisitr noted.

Strong rumors of Kurt Angle and Triple H's feud have been swirling since the early 2000s. It all began as a professional rivalry between the two, but Kurt Angle pulled away as the obvious best wrestler in the business.

While Kurt Angle was the WWE champion on SmackDown at one point, Tripe H was the world champion on RAW. During a promo, Triple H called Angle a "paper champion," which hinted that he didn't like Kurt Angle loud and clear.

That being said, the WWE didn't sign Kurt Angle last year citing his health concerns, however it's worth noticing that the company made it easy for the likes of Samoa Joe and Sting to get a WWE deal.
