Metalhead Software is all set to bring "Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings" featuring new stadiums, features and enhancements to the Xbox One this summer.

Metalhead Software announced Wednesday, May 27, that in the coming months, its arcade-style video game "Super Mega Baseball" is coming to Xbox One and PC (via Steam), according to reports on IGN.

Citing the success of "MLB: The Show," Sony has almost dominated the baseball category for the last few years. "Super Mega Baseball" was released on the PlayStation Store in the United States late last year, and now the arcade-style alternative is all set to make its way to the Xbox One and PC.

The game will be dubbed "Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings" and will release in summer this year. It will encompass two new stadiums, new features and improvements.

While the PC version is slated to arrive via Steam, the Xbox One version will probably arrive via digital download only. Nothing has been officially announce as of yet, Fansided noted.

Developer and publisher Metalhead Software will make the new content available for PlayStation owners, either via updates or free DLC.

"Super Mega Baseball" originally released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Dec. 2014 and it was well-received by the critics who praised the fun, arcade nature of the game. The game features a cartoon-based graphical style, with no player licenses at the moment. The game contains both season mode and standard exhibition matches, with all 216 players in the game being customizable.

With RBI Baseball 14 and 15 being Xbox One's only sims, "Super Mega Baseball" will be the console's third baseball game.

Though "Super Mega Baseball" is not an AAA title fans are hoping for, this is without doubt exciting news for PC and Xbox Owners. There's a thin chance that anyone would try to rival "MLB: The show" for now, but as far as Microsoft fans are concerned, "Super Mega Baseball" may be the next big thing until then.
