Chibi Robo fans rejoice! Nintendo announced a new Chibi Robo game slated to come out later this year, and it will release with a new Chibi Robo amiibo simultaneously.

Nintendo announced a new entry in the Chibi Robo series during a Japanese-only Nintendo Direct today. The game is slated to come out later this year and will release along with a Chibi Robo amiibo.

Nintendo Direct was filled with updates on release dates for forthcoming games along with a few new reveals. The brand new entry in the Chibi Robo series, with a title that more or less translates to "Lasso Action Guru-Guru Chibi Robo" sets aside the adorable robot's past endeavor in scrubbing floors, according to records on GameRant.

The new title puts players into plat forming, side-scroller. The main draw in this antic is how Chibi Robo operates his electric cord. As the name of the game suggests, the infamous plug that the protagonist carries around all the time will be used more often this time around as Chibi Robo collects blue orbs to extend the plug's reach.

As a result of Chibi Robo's newfound dexterity, the cutesy protagonist can now smash up baddies, destroy obstacles and traverse the environment, and it's the main draw of the new title. The new game's shift to 2D platforming is understandably a major focal point; Nintendo has also made sure that the title will get some more attention by revealing that Lasso Action Guru-Guru Chibi Robo will have amiibo support.

That being said, Nintendo did not release a list of compatible toys, but it unveiled a brand new Chibi Robo amiibo that will interact with the game.

In addition, the Chibi Robo amiibo will feature the usual amiibo functionality, leveling up with the game, IGN noted.

Other features will unlock eventually with the amiibo.

Nintendo Direct today was Japan-only; no information about other regions was made by the Japanese electronics giant.
