Fall Out Boy and 5SOS are reportedly working on a new song together. It was reported that both bands have long tried to do a collaboration, however, due to conflict of schedules, it just didn't push through.
At the recent BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend, Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump revealed that a collaboration with 5SOS could be happening much sooner than expected. He shared that they are cooking something up that fans should definitely look forward to.
"What's crazy is we keep trying to have it happen, then it doesn't happen. It's one of those things. It's timings and stuff. It'll happen eventually."
Stump also shared that they were quite touched when they saw Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford and Ashton Irwin "fangirling" during their performance.
"We saw that, it was nice of them, they're great guys," he said.
Early this year, in an interview with Shazam radio, via Inquistr, Fall Out Boy shared that they actually spent time with 5SOS during the Soundwave Festival.
"We got a chance to hang out with the 5 Seconds kids when we were in California last week. I thought they were, like... really sweet and they were funny. They liked the same rock bands, it was cool, it was funny."
Fall Out Boy and 5SOS had quite a misunderstanding a few months back. It was said that Pete Wentz was a bit offended with a statement made by Ashton Irwin in an interview with Billboard.
"People get confused because we're young and we have a female fan base. But so did Fall Out Boy. Pete Wentz was the Justin Bieber of 2007. Girls loved him, they obsessed over him," he said in 2014.
Some Fall Out Boy fans were not too happy with his statement, with some speculating that he was taking a jab at the band's music. Eventually, 5SOS was able to clear the issue and held that it was just a misunderstanding.
